ESCAPE FROM DESTRUCTION.

EPISODE 5.

'Good evening', I greeted putting up a smile.
'Good evening', she replied back. I thought I saw a flicker of recognition jump into her eyes. But I wasn't too sure about it. 'who are you looking for? She quickly asked.
'I am Vincent Usman', I said, giving her my best smile. 'I learnt we have got a wild girl in this room and her name is Helen, so I have come to see her myself'.
She moved away from the doorway and I entered without her inviting me.
'It's nice knowing you, she said and laughed. 'I am Helen'. She said as if she were the Students' Union President.
I took my seat, not waiting for her to offer me one. I intentionally let my eyes rove over her for a long time to give her the impression that she was admired.
'Now that you know who Helen is, you better watch it and tell yours friends to keep off'. We both laughed to that. I told her that I was not one of the Campus wolves but that when I heard about the tigress, I became very anxious to meet her. She relaxed and we chatted freely. Helen was quite tall for a girl. She had very shapely and lovely legs. Her chocolate-coloured complexion complimented her overall beauty.
I never had a girlfriend or lover and I wasn't interested in having one. But after seeing the beauty in Helen, I was moved. I enjoyed her company so much I did not notice that time was flying. I found myself asking her out before I could check myself.
Surprisingly for me she agreed to allow me take her out.
We agreed to meet at the Aristotle Park, a very beautiful and large Park right in the middle of the school, on Sunday by five in the evening.
I left her room feeling so excited, and when I returned back to my hostel, my roommate Chris was worried. He had been searching for me everywhere as he knew me as someone who doesn't keep late nights. I told him I went to visit Helen and he asked me how it went.
'No problems', I replied.
'Or do you think she was going to slap me like he did to you'? I asked?.
Chris kept on looking at me without uttering a word. I never wanted to make him feel humiliated, so I decided to advice him to be very careful and to stop jumping from one girl to another. I didn't tell him I had already asked Helen out. I kept that to myself.
We both stopped talking for a while and decided to face our study. But I couldn't study or sleep. I kept on thinking about Helen and I started having this feeling I couldn't explain.
